Hannah May EIT, MASc
Water Resources Engineer-in-Training
Hannah’s deep connection to water drives her dedication to its protection. From growing up fishing on Lake Erie, to experiencing the expanse of Great Slave Lake, she has developed a deep reverence and respect for water. When facing the intricate challenges of water management, Hannah advocates for collaborative solutions that center community and prioritize Indigenous Knowledge.
Hannah graduated from the University of Guelph’s Environmental Engineering program in 2020, where she also continued to complete a Master of Applied Science in Water Resources Engineering in 2022. Her thesis took a holistic lens to agricultural watershed management and explored nutrient and sediment transport through the entire hydrologic cycle, focusing on connections and relationship to land use, management practices, and weather conditions. Hannah has worked for provincial government implementing both Great Lakes monitoring initiatives and climate change mitigation programs.
Hannah is proud of her Haudenosaunee heritage. Hannah’s grandmother is from Six Nations of the Grand River in Brandford, Ontario, where she and her family members are also registered.
In her spare time, you’ll find Hannah outside. She enjoys learning about off-grid living through volunteer-based travel and camping and paddling her weekends away. She is passionate about resilient living that works in harmony with nature.

Environmental Management Planning
Protect your lands and waters...your way.
Many First Nations are beginning to recognize the value of environmental planning as an important initial step in land governance and economic development. An Environmental Management Plan (EMP) identifies environmental challenges in a First Nation’s reserve and proposes approaches to resolve those issues.
EMPs are an agreed upon requirement between Land Code communities and INAC under the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management.
At Shared Value Solutions, we specialize in finding creative ways to leverage planning and regulatory processes to develop solutions for our clients that protect the environment and people’s land use, develop capacity and generate economic opportunities.
