Indigenous Centre for Cumulative Effects
Community Engagement Sessions
The Indigenous Centre for Cumulative Effects (ICCE) is a non-political organization that supports Indigenous communities to undertake cumulative effects work. The ICCE mission is to create networks and develop and share knowledge to empower community-based approaches to culturally relevant cumulative effects assessment, monitoring, and management to support Indigenous well-being and decision-making.
Over 2022 and early 2023, Shared Value Solutions supported ICCE in completing a National Needs Assessment, speaking with Indigenous communities0F across Canada about their underserved needs in assessing and managing cumulative effects in their Nation or community. The Needs Assessment consisted of two phases: virtual Focused Dialogue sessions with specialists experienced in working with cumulative effects assessment, and Regional Dialogue sessions with Indigenous communities across the country. Additional interviews were completed with Métis and Inuit communities to ensure their unique perspectives were incorporated into the project.
SVS compiled community needs and priorities to deliver a comprehensive set of recommendations for ICCE to incorporate into their strategic planning for 2023 and beyond.
