Visualizing Cumulative Impacts to First Nations Rights

SVS conducted a study documenting cumulative effects, and associated impacts to First Nations’ rights, throughout Wabun Tribal Council’s territory. 

The study focused on creating a Cumulative Effects Atlas, drawing on relevant data from Ontario’s Open Data Portal and other ministries to illustrate the lands taken-up by disturbances including industry and other human activity. The Atlas was complemented by and grounded in the stories, perspectives, and experiences shared by community members related to cumulative effects through a series of focus groups and semi-structured interviews.
