Land Use Plan

SVS is currently working with Magnetawan First Nation to develop a Land Use Plan in accordance with its Land Code under the Framework Agreement on First Nation’s Land Management. The scope of this project includes conducting numerous engagement opportunities, collecting and analyzing all relevant data, developing land use designations that correspond with the community’s land needs, and developing a final Land Use Plan for the community to vote on and ratify. This project also includes a Land Use Framework, which lays out a clear strategy to interact with, implement, and update the plan. We are also working with Magnetawan First Nation to develop an Environmental Managment Plan.

Value for the Client Group

Overall the process resulted in value for the community in terms of knowledge documented, capacity building, increased community understanding and participation, and tools for clear, fair decision-making by the Band.
